What Is Stimpod Therapy?
Stimpod is a clinically validated, non-invasive device that delivers controlled low-frequency electrical pulses through the skin directly to affected nerves. Unlike TENS machines, which distract the brain from pain signals, Stimpod targets the source of nerve dysfunction. It stimulates cellular repair, reduces nerve hypersensitivity, and restores normal nerve function over a course of treatment.
Clinical research into pulsed radiofrequency stimulation has demonstrated meaningful reductions in neuropathic pain with a favourable safety profile in patients where pharmacological management had been insufficient (Sluijter et al., 2013, Pain Practice).

Could Neuropathy Be Causing Your Symptoms?
Neuropathy (peripheral neuropathy) occurs when nerves outside the brain and spinal cord are damaged or not functioning correctly. Common symptoms include:
- Burning, tingling, or shooting pain, often worse at night
- Numbness or reduced sensation in the feet, legs, or hands
- Hypersensitivity where even light touch or clothing feels painful
- Muscle weakness or loss of coordination
- Difficulty sleeping due to constant nerve discomfort
Peripheral neuropathy affects approximately 2 to 3% of the general population and up to 8% of people over the age of 55 (Martyn and Hughes, 1997, BMJ).

Common causes include diabetes, chemotherapy, vitamin B12 deficiency, autoimmune conditions, previous injury or surgery, and repetitive nerve compression. In some cases the cause remains unknown (idiopathic neuropathy), but the symptoms are just as real and just as treatable.

Stimpod Therapy FAQs
Is Stimpod therapy painful?
No. Most patients find it very comfortable. You may feel gentle twitching or pulsing sensations during treatment. This is normal and indicates the nerve is responding. There is no pain during or after the session.
How quickly will I notice results?
Some patients notice improvement after their first or second session. For others, benefits build gradually over the course of treatment. We will monitor your progress throughout and adjust the programme accordingly.
Is Stimpod suitable if I have diabetes?
Yes. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is one of the primary conditions Stimpod was designed to treat. We will take a full medical history before starting treatment to ensure it is appropriate for you.
Can Stimpod be used alongside other treatments?
Absolutely. Stimpod works well in combination with manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and red light therapy. We will build a plan that integrates all relevant treatments for the best outcome.
Do I need a GP referral for Stimpod therapy?
No. You can self-refer directly. We offer a free discovery visit if you would like to discuss your symptoms and find out whether Stimpod is right for you before committing to a course of treatment.
How much does each session cost for Stimpod Therapy?
We offer a FREE consultation to ensure that we can help you. After hearing more about what you are currently suffering with and answering any questions you may have. A qualified practitioner will put together a tailored plan for you. The number of sessions will depend on a number of factors such as the duration of symptoms and their history.
